Time: 45 minutes
Procedure
We’re starting the new topic about extreme facts from unusual food. Also we’ll revise our grammar about future tenses.
Task 1
First of all we’ll start with new vocabulary. Look at the board and read the words. You can also find these words in your books on page 28-29. Try to understand the words and check the meaning in the dictionary.

Check these words

aroma, platter, common sight, deep-fried, marinated, pop, roasted, pest, contamination, unavoidable, witchetty grub, dough, nutty taste, edible, abundant, fraction of resources, cholesterol

Reading
Pre-reading
As you know, many people around the world eat insects. People in South Africa eat insects and soon they will also appear on Western menus. Their benefits are that they are high in protein and low fat.

Task 2
Now, look through the text and try to fill in some missing parts in it.
Use the following strategies:
 Read the text to get the general idea.
 Read the section of the text with a gap and identify the topic.
 Read the sentences before and after the gap and look for clues about the missing sentence, certain words may help you (e.g. time references, pronouns).
 Decide which sentence goes in the gap, check that it fits with the sentences before and after it.

Let’s read and translate the text.

Post-reading
Task 3
So, listen to the text and pay attention to the pictures (Play the recording).
Look at the exercise 4 and match the words/phrases in bold with their meanings.

Now we’ll revise Future Tenses. Tell me, please, how we can express the future? What verb forms can be used? (Revising the rules with the help of work- book page 102).

Task 5
Now open your student’s books on page 29 and do exercise 6. You have to choose the correct verb tenses. Use your grammar material to explain the using of the tenses.

Task 6
To sum up our grammar let’s do exercise 7 on page 29.
Answer my questions:
- What are you going to do this weekend?
- What are you doing tonight?
– What do you think you will do next summer?
Conclusion: Today we’ve revised grammar and learned the new lexical material. We also have studied some new information about unusual food.
Hometask: S.b. p. 29 ex. 9. Your task is to write a few sentences about your attitude towards eating insects. Would you like to eat them? Why? / Why not?
